POTM: February 2017 – Clear Weather’s Donny

Clear Weather’s debut skate offering, the Donny

In January, we officially welcomed Clear Weather into the skate shoe industry. The brand’s shoes are simple, but one unique design feature is present throughout: a suede panel covering the ollie/kickflip area on a canvas upper – “Suede where you need it”, the less-popular-but-just-as-functional cousin of the rubber toe cap. And with that, we introduce our Pick of the Month for February 2017, Clear Weather’s debut skate offering, the “Donny.”

Sporting a canvas upper and suede ollie protectors, the Donny is Clear Weather’s take on a tried and true silhouette, updated to fits the needs and styles of skating in 2017. Function-first design features make this shoe truly one of a kind.

The Donny boasts an unusual feature in skating with asymmetrical laces. A staple of soccer shoes for years, this highly functional design cue makes it’s way into skating thanks to CWB. The shoe also makes use of a tongue stabilizer, an underutilized but fully necessary feature in skate shoes. The elastic straps inside keep a snug fit and make it so the shoe can function sans laces. The stock insole is removable and there is deep tread on the gum sole.

Clear Weather’s premiere skate model, the Donny, brings a classic silhouette into a new era. Priced at a very reasonable $65 and packed full of utilitarian design features, why not give them a try? Keep a look out for Clear Weather’s upcoming offerings; they are sure to not disappoint.

=/ would be cool but no protection for heel tricks. why the heck didn’t they put a suede patch on the heelflip area too? would be the perfect shoe.

Yo, would the most ideal spot be where the padding is near the ankle? Like, the whole stitched part? If not, waddya think, my man?

I really like them, asked them on insta if they’re going to distribute them in Europe and never got a reply… I can understand that bigger companies don’t reply to internet comments but they clear weather doesn’t have more than 15-20 per picture…

Then they’d just be another vans era copy with no originality. I feel it though. Being a tech skater I blow through shoes in a couple of weeks to maybe a month and a half.
