Adidas Skateboarding Introduces The Acapulco

Adidas Skateboarding are officially purveyors of skate loafers.

Those who prefer the “Team Handsome” route will soon have another option to add to their rotation: the Adidas Acapulco. A reimagining of the 1988 penny loafer (of the same name), The Acapulco seeks to round out Adidas’ stylistic design choices by covering all the bases. This slip-on features a full grain leather upper and vulc midsole, but the real winner is in the support – the external embossed midfoot strap keeps your feet snug *and* there’s a molded sockliner. Support, flex and feel.

Pulling from older models and creating a “made to skate” version is something of a trend we’ve seen pop up more and more the last year or so, and for many of us it’s a dream come true. How many times have you wished a non-skate shoe was more suited for the beating skateboarding gives?

The Acapulco will be available March 1 in select retailers and online for $80.

Not Acapulco Gold, I see. Meh, really does an effective job making a classy silhouette look like trash with that branding. Huf Dylan’s and Gillette will always be the best skate/formal option.

I’m feeling it. Probably wouldn’t skate it though. Looks great imo

Nice addition to the adidas family

I’m a huge fan of the skate/formal shoes because I need to wear them every day at work but these ones look weird, I will try them at adidas store but they look like like a RL shoe mashup

Like the idea but not coming from Adidas. I think they did really well with the design, and the red leather is real pretty, but it seems like they’re venturing into a realm thats not typically theirs. Also, they’re kind of trying to cash out on Dylan Rieder’s passing (RIP). and IMO, Nice Leather loafers and fat logos are a no-go.
