Lakai continues their ever-growing pro model line with the newly released VA2. No stranger to pushing the speed barriers on a skateboard, Vincent’s 2nd pro model caters to the simplicity we can all appreciate in a solid skate shoe. A streamlined upper, short toe and accents throughout the VA2 provide more than enough style aesthetically, but not enough to distract you before attempting to bomb hills switch like the man himself.
While the shoe’s demeanor looks simple, it does lend itself to a few surprises. We were pleased to find a cushioned Luxlite insole and a foam midsole within the interior of this vulcanized model. Normally, comfort is sacrificed for the support of a hard midsole underneath any vulcanized shoe’s insole, so considering the VA2s have double the cushioning than most are used to, this otherwise unsuspecting vulcanized model is elevated to another level. The additional foxing-tape bumper along the toe ensures longer durability that won’t weigh the shoe down.
With Lakai’s deep herringbone tread pattern and a subtle navy and burgundy combination to boast, this may be the lightweight vulcanized shoe you’ve been looking for all summer. Priced at $69.95, the VA2 can be found at most local skate shops or directly at Lakai.com.
