Talkin’ Pro Models with Josh Kalis & his DC Kalis Lite

Over his lengthy tenure at DC, Josh Kalis’ loyalty has earned him a slew of pro models and more recently, his own pro collection for DC Shoes. When we recently got word that DC would be doing a Lite rendition of his infamous first pro model, we had RL correspondent Jeremy Lugo catch up with the man himself.

Meeting at the private DC archive room, Josh spoke on his love for the original DC Lynx, reflecting on his earlier days of entertaining offers from other shoe brands before settling with his now long-time sponsor, and opens up about his top 5 skate shoes of all-time.

Interview a pro who knows anything about the shoes and or gives a shit about the shoes

So sick – such a big kalis fan, and I feel like he doesn’t really boast about himself in the lime light. He’s got plenty to flex about so it was cool to see him relax and reminisce like this. Thanks dudes

As someone who loved -and had- the first Kalis 1 and now the Lites, I enjoyed so much this interview, this guy just has it, you see him talking and it feels like he’s your lifetime bro.
The only question that I would ask him.. what about the names? The Truth, Proof, Verdict.. where did all this law language came from?

    Thanks RL, amazing interview!

Awesome interview. Kalis is the man. What were the other companies that gave him offers? He would’ve been good on ES or Axion.

Sick interview! I’ve been a fan of Kalis’ shoes and skating for a long time, but seeing those og Lynx just reminds me of how bad the designs at DC have gotten. They won’t reissue the Lynx, but corny Journey’s shoes like the court have been a part of their line up for over a decade. They obviously don’t care about their original demographic.
