My Shoe Mashups – DAE-MO 358

The Mike Mo S is arguably one of the best models from DC in terms of technical skate shoes. From its no-sew construction and Super Suede to its open mesh tongue and ortholite sockliner, this shoe seems to have everything; not to mention having some of the best boardfeel/grip offered in a cupsole shoe. However, we can’t help but wonder how a vulcanized version of this shoe would skate. Many of recent pro models from DC have been offered in both vulcanized and cupsole options; so why not the Mike Mo S, damn it?!? This is why the mashup of the DAE-MO 358 was created.

The sole that would be most appropriate for this vulcanized model is the Arto 358 from New Balance Numeric. We chose this sole for three reasons, the first being this sole is very durable in the high wear areas – heel and toe. The second reason is this sole is extremely grippy, despite the tread pattern’s deceiving aesthetic. The final and most obvious reason is this sole’s flexibility due to its vulcanized construction. Even though this sole is thicker than most vulcanized soles on the market, this feature does not give up any flexibility or boardfeel. The addition of this thick sole will also help to keep the upper from “bagging out”, allowing the shoe to keep its shape for much longer.

The other major addition to this shoe is the rubber patch around the ollie/kickflip area from the DVS Daewon 14. Even though DC’s Super Suede is extremely durable, the Mike Mo S has been known to rip around this particular area. The addition of this rubber will not only enhance the durability of this area, but will add more style to the toe of this shoe. A metal eyelet from the Daewon 14 has also been added to this model for another bit of subtle style.

The final product is an extremely durable, comfortable, and good looking skate shoe. The style of skateboarding that would be best suited for the DAE-MO 358 would be low impact and transition skating; however, the addition of an aftermarket insole would make this shoe excellent for high impact sessions, as well.

What do you think of this mashup? Would a shoe like this be a good addition to the DC line or does the original Mike Mo S satisfy your footwear needs?

What 3 shoes would you mash into 1?

Honestly it makes sense. Why wouldn’t you want the extra durability of a toe cap?

How crazy would it be for a shoe company to literally do this.
To actually make a model that is combination of 3 other models.
There would probably be a lot of legal barriers to it but
    it sure would be funny.

Take the av sk8 low upper, put an xlk cup sole on it, and a rubber toe cap.
