Last Saturday, DC released a new team model – the New Jack. Well, not quite. In an interesting and possibly unprecedented move, DC gave the above colorway an early release, while the shoe gets its wide release in the next couple months. The collaboration is between the brand and Pro Skates, a Nova Scotia based skate/surf/snow shop celebrating their 30th anniversary. DC made only 30 pairs of the Pro Skates New Jack and apparently none are for sale. The colorway is inspired by the shop’s roots in heavy metal and features insole art ripped from the cover of Black Sabbath’s album, Born Again.
You may (or may not) recognize the New Jack from a few recent posts on Felipe Gustavo’s Instagram, albeit in a White/Gum pro colorway. The shoe features a sock-like toe for improved fit with an upper made of DC’s Super Suede. There is a mesh panel beneath the suede on the side panels and on the tongue for extra breathability. The sole uses IMPACT-I cushioning, which features inverted rubber cones in a lower durometer for compression upon landing.
The New Jack has a handful of smart features, and with the White/Gum Felipe Gustavo pro colorway, the shoe could easily be a summer hit. The shoe is set to debut late in May, with the inline colors at $70 and the Felipe colorway at $75.
