No matter how fly you are, Supra may not always be the best fit. As many of you know, Terry Kennedy is off Supra, and now we’re left wondering which company he’ll end up on next. Despite your judgement on his trick diversity, he’s undeniably created some of the most popular Supra models to date, and with the recent launch of the Stacks Vulc, we couldn’t be more confused as to why he’s off. In fact, we’ve heard that in global skate shoes sales, his pro model was in second place to the first place Janoski. It makes this decision of dropping him that more confusing.
More often then not, it seems that a lot of companies are slowly removing their OGs to make room for new blood, a reasonable decision, but it doesn’t mean it always expected. Terry Kennedy was the Rob Dyrdek of Supra: He had his own businesses, his own streetwear lines, and even rapped. It’s strange to see them part ways considering how well they complement each other but being the businessman TK is, we can’t see him being sponsorless for long. Here are some guesses as to where you’ll see him next…
Why He’d fit: Being that TK is a Baker boy, this move would probably be pretty easy. Emerica holds down a lot of Baker riders, and they’d probably be hyped to get another one on their squad. Its obvious that Emerica is putting out some really quality shoes, the question is, does their rugged all skate no play aesthetic mesh well with TK, who is big on mixing fashion with skateability. Some shoes, like the Romero Troubadour, seem to heading in that direction, but still aren’t at TK’s level of fly. He’s been seen rocking the new G6 Reynolds, so the bottom line is, it’s possible.
Why He’d Fit: Some Instagram reconnaissance has shown him skating in the Mike Mo S, and DC’s clean and streamlined aesthetic fit him well. Then there is also the reintroduction of the DC Lynx to take into account. If they are willing to bring back an OG shoe, then why wouldn’t they think they be willing to get an OG skater on their team? DC is the kind of brand that would definitely give him creative freedom to make a sick shoe, one that’s technical, but also fashionable.
Why He’d Fit: If Kanye West is on Adidas now, then why the fuck isn’t TK?! They both rap, and both are into fashion. Yeezy x TK collabo in the works? If that isn’t enough reason for TK to be on Adidas, then maybe it’s the fact that with them, TK could easily make a fashionable skate mid-top. Adidas is known for being Nike’s only competitor in the sneaker game (When looking outside of skateboarding, of course) so we can easily see Kennedy designing some awesome shoes. His Instagram has also revealed he’s been skating the Busenitz ADV, yet another technical cupsole shoe, so only time will tell.
But lets just be real for a second. No. Let’s be fly. Terry Kennedy just has to bring back IceCream shoes and all of it’s beautiful neon pink glory. Pharrell just relaunched the clothing brand with a skate team so hey…this shit could happen.
