Winter Collection Review: HUF HR-1

Whether you live on the East Coast or West Coast, you might need the HR-1 in your life.

Whether you live on the East Coast or West Coast, you definitely need the HR-1 in your life.

Yes, if you’re wondering, this is still a skate shoe dedicated website. In fact, that’s exactly why we’re featuring HUF’s HR-1 model in our Winter Collection. No one wants to get caught in their thin slip-on’s during wet winter conditions. It happened to us not too long ago and it wasn’t fun. Whether it be rain or snow, the HR-1’s have been introduced into the skate market for those days when it’s too wet outside to skate. If not that, they serve as an incredible shoe to walk around in after a sore day of skating. For a brand that’s expertise lies in skateboarding, the HR-1 model really caught us off guard. We’re beyond impressed by the construction of the shoe and it’ll likely be our Winter Shoe of choice once the snow decides to shit on us in the following weeks.

As one of the cushiest shoes we’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing, we can say that the price of the HR-1 absolutely reflects its quality. Because it is so supportive, we’ve almost been tempted to do an ollie or two in them but you wouldn’t rub a $120 check against your grip tape, would you? Exactly. More surprising than anything is the craftsmanship of the HR-1. Based on the detailed photos, you can tell that the HR-1 wasn’t just thoughtlessly thrown together in an attempt to fill a trending market. It’s our thought that this shoe was made for a number of reasons: to keep your feet warm, dry, and comfortable but also, to look good as hell in too.HR1Outsole The HR-1’s run true to size, have excellent arch support and can accommodate a thin or wide foot. If you get a chance, we urge you to try these on at your local shop. After trying them on, we can pretty much guarantee that you’ll end up spending the money that you saved up for your girlfriend’s birthday present on these HUF HR-1’s for yourself. Worth it. If she’s pissed at you for doing it, you have our consent to dump her.

If you don’t have a local shop to get them from, check them out at the HUF store and use this as a guide to find your size. We’ll follow up with more HUF next week, including the break down on the Sutters, Ramondetta’s and some info on the new Arena’s that everyone is going crazy about.

Kinda late on the post but I was wondering if these shoes would keep my feet warm during the winter. Really interested in buying a pair of these but don’t want to spend $120 on boots that’ll freeze my feet.

These don’t have the best insulation for Boot’s that you’d labor with throughout an entire day of work. More of a boot to walk around downtown to pick up chicks in while drinking coffee. Solid comfort levels though…
