Okay, so we were under the impression that it would’ve taken anywhere between 3-weeks to a month of solid digging to get the other photo of the unauthorized NB# model that we weren’t allowed to document but instead, it only took 2 days. Thanks to some contributors of the site & a simple google search of ‘New Balance Numeric’ (go figure), the Emerson 357 is here for your viewing pleasure. This time around, it wasn’t the prying eyes of social media that brought out the first photo of the Emerson 357 but our friends at ATBShop in the Uk.
As we stated before, the Emerson 357 is based on some 90’s nostalgic footwear & if you have any knowledge of 90’s skateboarding footwear, it’s clear as day that this shoe is inspired by the eS Koston 1. Where NB# dropped the ball in using the popularity & return of the runner toe à la early-2000’s for the Allston 616, they’ve collectively saved themselves from designing boring shoes & in the process, gained admiration from older skaters by using some historic designs towards the Emerson 357. We’re not saying that it’s a complete knockoff of the Koston 1, but you’ll definitely hear ‘Ayo, doesn’t that shoe remind you of the eS Koston 1’s? I had like 4 pairs of those!’ from a 30+ yr old in skate shops this Spring ’14.
Hopefully the Emerson 357 will appeal to a new generation of younger skaters, otherwise, NB# might be forced to put this silhouette onto one of their cupsoles & target it towards the same 30+ skaters who are tired of waiting on eS’ long awaited return.
Along with the leaked photo of the Emerson 357, ATBShop has some beautifully shot photos of the Stratford 479 & a full grain leather Logan 637.
