Agenda LB Sneak Peek: Lakai Limited Footwear

The Vincent model from Lakai. For Fall 2013.

The Vincent model from Lakai. For Fall 2013.

From the poll we threw up on our FB, it really shows that you guys are anticipating new Lakai footwear. There’s definitely been a resurgence in brand loyalty as of late and at this pace, 2013 looks like it could be the year “skater-owned” brands.

In what may have felt like a delayed move, Vincent Alvarez finally has got a pro shoe for Lakai. Despite our Juvenile post, Vincent had one of our favorite parts in Pretty Sweet and who could forget the Skate sauce part from 2012; still trippin’ on that shit.

His first pro model is a simple and straightforward vulcanized shoe. Even though it is vulcanized, it actually shares some similarities of a cupsole. At our first look of the Vincent, it looks as though it sits on a higher platform than your traditional vulc shoe for cupsole-like cushioning. Secondly, the shoe’s sole seems to grow taller from the toe to heel a la Busenitz. It felt super flexible and potentially ready to skate out of the box. Expect to see it in skate shops and stores for July ’13.

The “Guy” is dropping for June 2013. Check out the intricate, used and abused XLK outsole.

After coming out with one of the most confusing and technical parts in skateboarding, Guy Mariano surely deserves a new pro model. It’s probably going to be everyone’s favorite considering the fact that it has a XLK outsole and is appealing as hell in design. The stitching on the toe keeps it simple but essentially makes the shoe unique. Thankfully, the paneling is pushed back and triple stitched to prevent any possibilities of blowouts. The Guy should be hitting shelves a month before the Vincent for June of this year.

You should review The Guy because The Vincent looks like it’s just a Manchester with a stripe. Their grip patterns both look like they’ll do better than old Lakai grips.

Fuck, those Guys are sick, review those but Vincent’s first Shoe needs to be reviewed. I’m skating the Lindens and loving them, perfect move from vulc to cup…Awesome that I will now move to those pretty sweet guys, GUY for SOTY 12.5

Though the Guy does feature the same XLK cupsole as the Linden, the sole itself has been tweaked for maximum board feel. The EVA foam that typically runs from toe to heel of a cupsole has been thinned in the forefoot. Also, in certain areas rubber has been sculpted/minimalized wherever possible without taking away from the soles integrity. The sole is most similar to the new Howard shoe and as I am skating a pair of those now I must say that I cannot wait to slide into a pair of the new Guy kicks.

Some reason the Vincent looks like it should have a T cup on it, rather than a one piece but it’s just my head trying to wrap around that little bit of material popping up at the bottom of the laces; I’m odd like that to think so.

But it does look a bit similar to a Manchester hence why I think it would look doper with a t cap perhaps? I don’t know about the Guy, it looks a bit long for my liking and Lakai always runs a half size down for me. I prefer different types of kicks but it still looks awesome.

No that was a collaboration with the Manchester XLK since he had recently turned pro.
